fifth wednesday of easter

sometime tonight this blog will hit 2000 views. wow.

and here's how people are finding it today:

and just tangentially: i don;t know about you, but i don't have the money for a european vacation.

but you know what? the williston federated church choir gets a european vacation subsidized by the lilly foundation.

i'm sure it will be deeply spiritual and all that, but really.

"hey, we can get development funding in a grant! let's take a european package vacation to rome! yeah, that will be an excellent use of resources. i hear tour package operators are very needy and in need of our vacation dollars".

mmmhm.

lotta money there.

not much in the way of moral standing.

  1. Did the assault happen on a church trip? Did it happen on church property? How long ago did it happen? It seems like an assault is something that should go through the justice system, so the truth can come out and both sides are allowed to defend themselves.

  2. i am not telling the details of the assault itself here in this blog. since you cared enough to create an account for the purpose of posting this comment, though, i will tell you the reader's digest version: what happened happened. mistakes were made.

the assalt itself was far less harmful than the ostracism and humiliation at the hands of the church, which is not a judicial matter, but a church matter so therefore the protest is being directed at the church.

the protest is a result of being sent in silence and humiliation from the church. the protest is a result of the church taking the position that none of it is any concern of theirs. had the church wished to examine the issue and its accompanying evidences, the whole thing would have been done with.

or rather, had the church done the right thing at any one of the many choice points along the path evidence would simply not have been an issue.

there is much that can be done to assist and protect victims of assaults without there necessarily being judicial oversight.

let's just say that my response to being asked to be absent, silent, and obedient is to ask for the windows to be opened and the light let in. nto such light as may be obtained from the tight legal wranglings of courts or even the light of justice in this once case but light on the greater issue of how an organization will respond and aid victims and ultimately how a society will step up and be better than that.

also be aware that any actual procedures that may or may not be taking place are nto being discussed in this forum.

this forum is simply a record of my protest.

it is not an account of everything that led to the protest nor everything that happens as a result of the assault and subsequent humiliation and expulsion from the williston federated church.
